Developer's Log - Entry 2

friends with dogs log
entry 2 - december 25, 2020

I just
A) can't wait to be king
B) had sex
C) don't know now
D) don't know what to do with myself
E) can't even
F) wanna break you down so badly

So... hey! What's up! I hope you've been doing well.

Updating from the last entry...

1) WRTING - I think at this point, I'm finished with all of the writing and distributing the sentences throughout the text boxes (so the reader doesn't get overwhelmed with paragraphs of text).

2) VISUALS -

A few characters still need some poses and expressions. Some characters (one major, one minor) also need me to add a few accessories for a fun event in the story. I spent too long choosing the right backgrounds and effects for that event, but I hope it goes well in production!

I'm halfway through the story in adding the proper backgrounds and sprite poses/expressions. That includes resizing and cropping the sprites to fit the screen. The problem I have now is when I switch from one pose to the other, the sprite shifts slightly around to find its new 'center' on the screen, which was distracting as I tested. The heights, though, are fine.

3) AUDIO - The list of sound effects to search for is growing longer. I haven't started searching for these, since I want to make sure the visuals are intact before getting distracted with lots of sounds and music. I've bookmarked a few audio tracks and sound effects, but they won't be applied until after I'm done adding the visuals.

4) PROGRAMMING - As a B-list feature, I may look more into ATL (Animation and Transformation Language) that Ren'Py provides. This would be to add drama to the aforementioned fun event, but it's not absolutely necessary.

5) LOGO - The logo is done. I'm just going to leave it and worry about other things. I know the logo really advertises your product's identity, but having a large audience is not quite my priority right now. I just want to finish this before the next disaster happens. ^_^

6) TITLE SCREEN - For now, it's fine. I can see the choices.

Proof of concept screenshots are attached! Woo!! And as you can see, there are, in fact, dogs in this story :)

Things to do:

1) Finish adding backgrounds and sprites
2) Fix the dancing sprite problem
3) Shop for sound effects and music
4) Apply sound effects and music
5) Finish 1 CG edit, and 1 CG color/lighting
6) Make more lists
7) Submit consistent dev logs

Happy holidays everyone!

'Til next time!

-M.
